Peter Hosfeld was born in Spain in 1973 and subsequently was raised in Norway. After apprenticing with figurative painter José Mohamed in Venezuela, he went to The School of The Art institute of Chicago on a scholarship where got his BFA in 1998.

His career in the L.A. video game industry left a legacy of kinetic expression which combines with influences of modernist abstraction to produce an abstract vocabulary, a kinetic language that marries high/low expressionist and comic style mark-making in a body of work he dubs Narrative Abstraction. His work evokes chaotic states of becoming, wherein entropy is portrayed as a positive force of transformation.

Active in Miami since 2012 with a studio at the Fountainhead in Little Haiti, Hosfeld has shown at Art Center | South Florida, Robert Fontaine Gallery, Art Wynwood,  Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and the Deering Estate, among other galleries and institutions. He was included in the 2015 survey exhibition of South Florida art 100+ Degrees in the Shade.
